I'm shooting for my first dog soon not sure if it'll be this summer or next summer. While I'm promting my decision on what dog I want, I'm also doing my homework. So I'm touring different schools, The Seeing Eye next Monday and then Guiding Eyes and The Guide Dog Foundation sometime mid/late summer. What I want to know is: Did you tour the schools first before applying or did you just say "This is the one, I want to attend it?" Curious to everyone's answers.

I didn't tour the school. I talked with friends and other guide dog users and read up on literatuure. That's how I decided on GDB.

Yeah I just think touring is a great idea first. Regardless of how many people recommend the school to you. I think it's always best to check out the place first.

Goblin while i can oly speak from my own experience, that statement is wrong in my oppinion. I went to the seeing eye five years ago, and they did anything but treat you like a child. I can understand your thinking now that i did a bit, because if you mean this whole bullshit of it's a gift, the blind person shouldn't be charged, I'm all done witht hat. Blind v, good luck on whatever school you attend but here's a few things about se you should considder. They ask for one fifty for the first dog, but it that's a bit steep for you, they let you pay it over time, no matter how it takes you. You request folow up they don't hound you every year, they don't give you a stipend fo the dog, but will loan you money if the ver bills are outrageous, and best of all, when you leave, that dog is yours, no questions asked.

Madam Vel, when you say 150, do you mean one hundred fifty dollars or one hundred fifty thousand? I know there's a enterence fee for the first dog. And is that with every dog?
